I like Morley’s trisector theorem—discovered just a little over 100 years ago. The angle trisectors of any triangle intersect in the interior to form an equilateral triangle.
Why counter-intuitive? Because it works for any triangle, lacking symmetry of any kind, yet still conjures up the most symmetric of all triangular figures. A real gem.
